Glamis
Castle Half Day
Set
in the rural tranquillity of Perthshire's rolling hills,
Glamis, with its great height, rounded towers and distinctive
pointed turrets, is a beautiful and imposing castle. A Royal
residence since 1372, it was the childhood home of Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and the legendary setting
of
Shakespeare's Macbeth. The guided castle visit takes an hour,
and you can then stroll in the landscaped park, which has
Highland cattle, some of Scotland's tallest trees and an Italian
Garden. There are gift shops, restaurant and an Elizabeth of
Glamis exhibition in the old coach house for you to enjoy.
The old Kirk in Glamis village is well worth a look, as is
one of Scotland's finest historic treasures, a nearby 8th
century ornate Pictish Cross-Slab.
