Scone is a wonderful visit, not just the palace (all on one level) but the grounds, maze and just the general ambience. David Douglas, of Douglas fir fame, was born at Scone and was once an under gardener on the estate. See the massive tree grown from seed he sent back from the Columbia River in 1826.

Scone Palace Half Day

Close to Perth, 'Scotland's Treasure House', Scone Palace, has superb collections of porcelain, French furniture, paintings and ivories in richly furnished apartments. The kings of Scotland were crowned here (many on the fabled Stone of Destiny) for almost 500 years. There is beautiful parkland surrounding the Palace, with many fine trees, and Scotland's only maze. The numerous Peacocks are a major attraction. We return by the scenic coastal route on the south shore of the 'Silvery Tay.'
